Snowboarding

The experience of gliding through bottomless powder is the most addictive and fun sensation on a snowboard. With wide open bowls, tree runs, and varied terrain features, (and of course the 12 – 16 meters of snowfall each season), Niseko is the home of powder riding in Asia.

InBounds Terrain

The inbounds powder in Niseko is magical with plenty of courses for both beginners and advanced riders alike. Spend some time in the widely spaced Silver Birch groves or cruise through the open powder fields at the top of the Grand Hirafu resort. The sheer amount of lift accessible terrain means that you will not have to hike for powder unless you want to.

Backcountry Access

For the more experienced riders, Niseko has adopted the Niseko Local Rules Policy. There are 8 backcountry access points across the Niseko United area that allow riders to enter unpatrolled and unmanaged areas of the mountain. This policy provides access to powder runs of up to 1,000 vertical meters of descent. The gates are closed when weather/avalanche conditions are dangerous, but it is important to remember that, even when the gates are open, you are leaving the managed resort area. It is highly recommended that boarders heading through the gates have a good knowledge of avalanche safety and carry a beacon, probe, and shovel at the least. There are tours available that can provide you with a guide and proper equipment if you do not have your own. Venturing into the backcountry alone or without proper experience or equipment is very dangerous.
